Taste of Grand Rapids returns to Comstock Park

Taste of Grand Rapids returns to Comstock Park

Taste of Grand Rapids is moving to Comstock Park.

Fifth Third Ballpark will host the annual event, which runs July 19 and July 20.  The ballpark also hosted Taste of Grand Rapids in 2004.  Facility events manager Craig Yust says Taste of Grand Rapids’ organizers likely moved the event back to the ballpark because the event was starting to outgrow its current location at John Ball Zoo.

This year’s Taste of Grand Rapids will run in conjunction with the West Michigan Trucking Show.  The big rig show will take place in Fifth Third Ballpark’s parking lot, along with Taste of Grand Rapids’ traditional barbecue competition.  Food vendors will fill the ballpark’s concourse for Taste of Grand Rapids.  Yust says Clear Channel is still lining up musical acts, which will perform on the ball field.

Taste of Grand Rapids will run 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. July 19, and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich.— The owner of Alpine Golf Club says he will rebuild his club house, which was destroyed by fire.

The fire delayed opening day for Alpine Golf Club for about a week.

Couple finds 20 foot deep sinkhole in yard

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) -- Wet weather might have been a factor in a surprise discovery in Comstock Park.

Ron Moore was mowing his lawn when he came across a sinkhole. It's only about a yard wide, but nearly 20 feet deep.

"You hear all the horror stories so we want to stay away and get it taken care of before it becomes a real big problem," said Moore.

"I don't even like standing out here, in fact I was sort of a little bit leery I didn't want my house to swallow me up," added his wife Marge.

Marge joked it was a good thing Ron did not fall into the sinkhole or she might still be looking for him.
