It's time to Paint the Town Purple

It’s May, which means it’s time to paint the town purple.

Officials from Alpine and Plainfield Townships have signed proclamations declaring May “Paint the Town Purple Month” in support of Relay for Life of Comstock Park.  Organizers for Relay for Life of Comstock Park are also encouraging home and business owners to participate on May 10 by decorating themselves, storefronts, vehicles, etc. to show that Comstock Park is fighting back against cancer.

Relay for Life of Comstock Park will kick off  its annual walk-run May 17 at 12 p.m. at Comstock Park High School. Proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society.

Adoption movie coming to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A movie tour to raise adoption awareness is coming to Grand Rapids.

The film 'Stuck' talks about adoption problems families are having bringing a child over to the U.S. The film "Stuck" is traveling to 60 cities in three months.

The hope is that the movie brings adoption awareness and reform. Currently, families who want to adopt children overseas say their children get stuck because of politics and red tape. While loving families are ready to give them a home, many never are able to leave the orphanage.
