Let’s Go to Bat for Kids!!

Thursday, June 25, 2015 is the day to be at 5/5 Ballpark at 5:30. Bring all the kids, admission is FREE. Parking is $6 per car but the evening includes children’s games and activities along the concourse, local mascots and a fun night at the ballpark.

In 2014, Catholic Charities of West Michigan welcomed over 4500 West Michigan fans for this event. Let’s see if we can break that record this year, 2015. This event benefits the family strengthening programs of CCWM that help keep families together here in our community.

This ballgame is played by clergy, religious leaders on the Padres team and media celebrities on the Media Giants team.

One person trapped in Alpine & 4 Mile crash


WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- One person was trapped in their vehicle during a crash at Alpine Avenue and 4 Mile Road Friday afternoon. The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m.

The driver of a black car was trapped in a vehicle and was initially reported to be unresponsive, but was later alert and responsive.

The Walker Department of Public Safety responded to the scene as well as Life EMS. Firefighters had to cut the person out of the vehicle.

Talented Student, Rachel Myszak, designs Coopersville C of C Logo

Rachel Myszak, a senior in Graphic Design at Coopersville High School, was recently recognized by the Coopersville Chamber of Commerce for her logo design. The logo was designed for the Chamber of Commerce marketing campaign; “Shop, Live, Love, Coopersville.”

This partnership between businesses and the Ottawa Area schools and the Community, is an initiative for “Doing More Together” and will offer more educational opportunities for area students.

Rachel states, “My first graphic design class in high school opened my eyes to design and my passion for it. Creating art is a personal process and knowing that people enjoy the completed piece in rewarding.”

Nucraft expanding in Comstock Park


COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) -- A furniture maker in Comstock Park broke ground on an expansion project this week.

Nucraft, on West River Drive, says it will add 47,000 square-feet to its manufacturing facility.

The expansion is expected to add another 40 jobs to a workforce of nearly 300.

Nucraft employees have designed and built custom office furniture for more than 70 years in West Michigan.

Veterans Drive this Weekend

This weekend the Comstock Park Student Volunteers will be hosting a Veterans Drive outside Walmart on Alpine Avenue.

Student CP student volunteers will be handing out fliers, listing items for shoppers to purchase. These purchases can be left out in front of Walmart for students to gather that will be donated to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

The Community can visit the Alpine Walmart on Saturday, May 16 & Sunday, May 17 from 10:00am – 6:00pm to make a difference for the Grand Rapids Home for Veteran’s.

St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish Prayer Shawl Ministry Passes 150 Mark in Donated Items To Community

GRAND HAVEN, Mich., MAY 14, 2015--Since 2007, an informal group of women from St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish has been knitting and crocheting hand made shawls, lap robes, afghans, hats, mittens, scarves and similar items to give veterans, infants, middle schoolers, hospitalized persons, those in nursing homes, parish members and community friends comfort.  Now in its eighth year, the group--known as the Parish Prayer Shawl Ministry--has passed a major milestone of donating 150 items to persons in the lakeshore community and as far away as Haiti.

St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish to Host Summer Celebration May 29

GRAND HAVEN, Mich., May 14, 2015--When St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish opens its doors to the general public for a special "Summer Celebration" on Friday, May 29, from 6 p.m. to midnight, those in attendance will be welcomed to find their place by the bandshell being brought in for a toe-tapping party in the parking lot, food, drinks, dancing and entertainment.

The event will be held on the parish grounds at 920 Fulton Street in Grand Haven.  Cost of admission is $5 per person.  Hot dogs, brat's, Jet's pizza, pop and water will be available for a minimal fee.  A full cash bar also will be available, serving keg and canned beer, wine and a variety of mixed drinks.

Live music will be provided by performers with the Scottville Clown Band from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by Soul'd Out Band, featuring lead singer and parishioner Bubba LeClair, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
