COMSTOCK PARK, Mich.—The mascot of the West Michigan Whitecaps is looking for Halloween poems from elementary school children.

Crash the River Rascal is promising a one-hour classroom visit on Halloween to the child who pens his top pick.  The winning entry should be original, suspenseful and thrilling.  Crash and his Whitecaps friends will read all of the submissions and select one winner.

The classroom contest is open to all West Michigan schools, grades one through five.   All entries should include school name, address, teacher’s name and email, the child’s grad and the number of students in their class.  Entries are due 5 p.m. Thursday, October 24 and can be submitted via email to community@whitecapsbaseball.com or by mailing Whitecaps Halloween Writing Contest, P.O. Box 428, Comstock Park, MI 49321.

The winning classroom’s teacher will be contacted Friday, October 24 to schedule Crash’s visit, which must take place between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on October 31.
