My Town Sparta: Volunteers needed to help pull off Freedom Cruise

SPARTA, Mich.—The Sparta Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help when the five-day Freedom Cruise rolls into the area.

The inaugural event will arrive in Sparta June 26.  From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., the village will shut down Main Street for the Motor Festival, featuring cars and bikes as well as entertainment, food and beverages. At 6 p.m. an honor cruise will take drivers and riders from Comstock Park High School to Sparta.  Proceeds from the ride will go toward the Finish the Mission veteran relief fund.

The Chamber of Commerce is looking for approximately 20 volunteers to direct visitors to parking as well as restaurants and businesses they may want to visit.  There are two shifts: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those interested in helping are asked to call the Chamber at (616) 887-2454.
