MARCH 8 - PTO meeting, 7 p.m. at Pine Island Elementary

MARCH 18 - Save this date for the Bounce Party/Family Dinner at Comstock Park High School, 5 to 9  p.m. All students who sold at least 5 items in the Goodies Fundraiser in  the fall will receive a wristband for free admission to the Bounce Party.

Congratulations to Riley Richardson, who won the grand prize gift certificate to Great Wolf Lodge as the top seller for the Goodies Fundraiser. Thanks, Riley, for working  so hard to make the fundraiser a success. The PTO appreciates your efforts!

Annual Showcase of the Arts preparations underway at KHPS

Showcase of the Arts will be held on Tuesday evening, April 26th, at 7:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center. Acts are auditioned and feature Middle School students excelling in the areas of performance and visual arts.

Students share, present and express a wide variety of talents. Some of the acts that were featured in the past are: vocal solos and duets, vocal ensembles, instrumental solos, duets, ensembles, dramatic  readings, comedy acts, skits, magic, martial arts, clowning, a rock band, piano solos, music with sign language, several varieties of dance, and the Eighth Grade Band!

In addition to the performance areas, students submit artwork, woodworking projects, sewing projects, and poetry.

Kenowa Hills High School Fine Arts Department presents "Once on This Island"

This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death.

Tickets are $7.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door.

8th Annual Comstock Park Athletic Boosters Cash Bash Raffle

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 19, 2011 for the eighth annual Comstock Park Athletic Boosters Cash Bash Raffle.
 
The event will be held at the Comstock Park American Legion located at 3811 West River Drive (corner of Four Mile and West River). Only 160 tickets will be sold so don't miss out on your chance to purchase your tickets early.

Last year, with your support, over $11,000 was raised to support the athletic programs for grades 7 through 12 at Mill Creek Middle School and Comstock Park High School.

The format for the party is the same as last year-a total of 160 $100 tickets will be sold. Of this number, five will be held back to be raffled off during the course of the night. This is a reverse raffle… the last ticket drawn is the grand prize winner. First place prize is $5,000; second, $1,000, third and fourth places, $500 each.

Third Annual Cancer Classic set for Friday, February 18

The 3rd Annual Cancer Classic is scheduled for Friday, February 18 at our Varsity Basketball games vs. Coopersville.  T-shirts are on sale at the high school and middle school this week and next for $10.  Shirts will also be available at the event.  All spectators wearing their shirt will be admitted to games on Thursday and Friday for free.  All proceeds from this event will be donated to benefit cancer research.  Please come out and support the cause!
