Whitecaps' narrow food choices to final 10 | News

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) - Food has become as much of a tradition as baseball out at Firth Third Ballpark every summer.

The third annual fan voting contest to determine the Whitecaps' next culinary delight starts Tuesday, February 21st.

Whitecaps officials say they've narrowed down more that 100 ideas submitted by fans in the last month to just 10 choices.

Starting Tuesday, fans are invited to go to whitecapsbaseball.com and vote for their favorite item. The winner will replace last year's winner, "Chicks with Sticks" (celery, carrots and hummus) on the ballpark's 2012 menu.

The inaugural winners of the contest were the Cudighi Yooper Sandwich and the Declaration of Indigestion.

Below is a complete list of the 10 food contest finalists.

1. Westside Po' Boy - (kielbasa, marinara, pierogies, sauerkraut)

2. Three Little Pigs - (bacon and pulled pork sandwich between pork chop "buns")

3. Giant Meatball - (more that 1/2 pound of ground beef and pork rolled with ricotta cheese, romano cheese, garlic and italian seasoning)

4. Deep Fried Root Beer Float - (ice cream sandwich dipped in root beer batter and deep fried)

5. Chicken and Waffles - (two waffle "buns" hold a fried chicken patty and a side of maple syrup)

6. Wasabi Spicy Sausage - (spicy sausage link slathered in hot wasabi sauce)

7. Curried Chicken Lettuce Wrap - (grilled chicken pieces perfectly spiced and rolled in a crisp lettuce wrap.

8. Pasties (meat & veggie) - two different options with this one - beef or vegetarian. (meat and/or veggies all wrapped up in a bread pocket)

9. Scotch Eggs - (sausage and eggs, breaded and deep fried.

10. Hot Beef Sundae - (shredded roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy layered together, topped off with a cherry tomato.

Voting runs through March 5, and the winner will be announced later in March.
