Grabbin' A Bite reviews Filling Station Grille

Grabbin' A Bite reviews Filling Station Grille

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich.-- If you're into memorabilia and remembering the good ole days, or maybe you're too young to remember but love the nostalgia anyway, The Filling Station Grille is just right for you.

A few years ago, we all mourned the loss of Mr. Fables around the area, but The Filling Station Grille stepped right up, giving Mr. Fables' customers exactly what they wanted --  fabulous food, great service and the Mr. Fables' famous Mr. Fab burger, using the original recipe.

The Filling Station is a cafeteria-style diner, meaning you go through the line and place your order.  Your name is called out for a pick-up when ready, but most times it is delivered right to the table. Even though  the fast pace of a cafeteria-style eatery can be intimidating, smiles and easy going manners behind the counter make the ordering less stressful than most.

Grand Rapids Beer City USA 2013 - the time to vote is now!

Grand Rapids Beer City USA 2013 - the time to vote is now!

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- There is no question 2012 was great year for Grand Rapids and beer.

A record number of breweries opened, including Eastown’s Harmony, Mitten Brewing, and Grand Rapids Brewing Company as well as both Pike 51 and White Flame in Hudsonville, Perrin in Comstock Park and Rockford Brewing Company. Additionally, Grand Rapid’s most successful brewery, Founders, celebrated their 15 year anniversary in style which included the release of their 15% Bolt Cutter Barleywine. But perhaps the defining moment in 2012 was the nomination and securing of the title Beer City USA in a tied vote along with previous year victors Asheville, North Carolina.

First Wok on Alpine reviewed by Grabbin' A Bite

Review of First Wok by Mike and Jane of Grabbin' A Bite:

Mike and I have been longing for some good Chinese food, and right away First Wok came to mind. First Wok has three locations in Kent County; we had been to one of them many times -- the one on 44th St SW in Kentwood. But now we are living north of Grand Rapids, and it was times to check out their location on Alpine Ave. in Walker. Alpine is a very busy street and not our usual back road travel, but the Chinese food was calling and we just had to go.

We are fussy about our Chinese food. When Mike was in the Navy, we lived in Taiwan for two years. We developed a taste for Mandarin style cooking, and to this day we decorate our home with all of the many Asian items that we brought back with us. We celebrated our first two anniversaries in Taipei.
