Lamoreaux Ave. Closing August 13 - 21 2012

It is expected that there will be a complete closure of Lamoreaux Ave at the intersection of Clark Street N.W. from Monday  August 13 2012 through Monday September 20 2012.  This is part of the the Mill Creek Sewer Trunk Renovation Project funded through a  Michigan State Revolving Fund Loan, an engineering grant, and $124,000 provided from the Alpine Township Sewer Fund for parts ineligible for financing.

Upon completion of the project, the Kent County Road Commission is expected to apply a thin overlay to the entire road and repaint it as a three lane street.

Sewer Line Construction on Westshire

Sewer Line Construction on Westshire

The area of Westshire Ave between Kittery and Biddeford looked more like a giant sand box than a street as a construction crew from Kamminga and Roodvoetz Excavating worked feverishly on the major sewer trunk replacement underneath the road.  The road is expected to be re-opened by Friday night.  Restoration is to follow.

Plans for Median Closings along M-37 Shared with Public

Staff members from the Michigan Department of Transportation were on hand at the Alpine Township Hall Wednesday night with laid out plans for closing the M-37 median at 8 Mile and 9 Mile Roads. This will force all traffic coming from 8 Mile  and 9 Mile Roads to have to turn right.  Those vehicles wishing to continue on those streets would have to then make a "Michigan U Turn" and then turn a right again.  Similar median closings occurred recently along Lake Michigan...

Alpine Township construction update

Alpine Township construction update

Work has resumed on the Strawberry and York Creek sewer projects. Some of the work is already near completion on the west side of Alpine Ave. but much remains to be done. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Township Supervisor Alex Arends and we will make sure that we get an answer for you. Work will also begin on the Mill Creek sewer project later this summer after it has been affirmed that funding is available. The Mill Creek project has been scaled down considerably after the DEQ determined that much of the work would fall under the category of "repair" rather than "replacement". While most of York Creek and Strawberry Creek sewer trunks will be replaced, most of the Mill Creek sewer trunk will be relined.
